We all need a way for our Big Dogs
to get in and out of the house or doghouse. We have found the the
doors with the two flaps (the center flap and the "U" flap) can catch the
exiting dog in the "U", much to their distress ! We have not tried
out the hard doors (plexiglas and/or metal) but fear the dog getting caught
when it changes its mind and tries to back up.
So far we are having good luck with
the E
- Z Matic Pet Door. It is an incredibly
simple design: it is just two overlapping
flaps of a magical rubber compound that stretches and stretches and stretches
(and so on) held under tension. The dog (or even a cat) just pushes
their nose through the flaps and follows with the rest of their body.
It is also quite inexpensive and can easily be designed for non-standard
sizes. I ordered a door for a 20 inch wide and 29 inch high opening
(a custom size) and it arrived within a week ! This is a small (dare
I say "Mom and Pop") operation and the service is excellent ! The link
is just to a "billboard" web page, but it has their 800 number. If
a 20 x 29 door is a good size for you ask Dick to use the Drescher/Hounds
of Heaven layout and you can save the $15.00 custom layout fee. Do
note: you need a flat surface that is 3 inches wider and higher than the
door opening as the door is surface mounted. The picture shows the
door with an optional wood door frame.
They will ship via the mails
to anywhere in the world.
