In the diary for week 2 of the Presidents' Day Litter we talked about the Magic Elixer for Fading Puppies.
This was received from Mimi Winkler, of Judges Choice Bichons. Neither of us are Vets so use this information as you see fit. Your results may vary.
Start with a piece of raw or frozen raw beef liver. Put it in a pan with a small amount of water and simmer gently until the blood comes to the surface (about 5 minutes). Let the pan cool and drain off the elixer.
Give 4 drops(without regard to the breed) to the fading puppy.
Repeat every 2 hours for 12 hours, then every 4 hours.
It has been suggested that for large and giant breeds you repeat the 4 drops every hour for the first 12.
When we used the Magic Liver Elixer the puppy rallied in 2 doses. Please note: we also gave tiny dabs of Nutri-Cal (tm)(by Tomlyn Products) just after the elixer. We do not know if the puppy recovered because he got warmer, because of the Magic Elixer, or because of the Nutri-Cal (tm).
