Journal: Week seven...
They are growing up!
The week started with the puppies being introduced to their new
collars and then being introduced to playing with a lead. They responded
as if being on a lead was no big deal. The puppy palace was reorganized
to give them a lot more running room.
MONDAY: The great escape! Deborah left to run some errands and all
the puppies rushed to one side of the pen and jumped up against it. Over
it went, and suddenly there were 4 adult wolfies and 3 puppies milling around in the rather small part of the living room that is not puppy pen. Bill was laughing so hard he almost couldn't collect the puppies and put them back in the pen!
MONDAY: The great escape - II. The puppies pulled so hard on the
strap that was closing the bottom part of the gate that they unsnapped
it and escaped again. We decided it was time to upgrade the pen. The
sides were changed from 20 inch plastic baby fencing to 48 inch heavy
duty pen. This also means that we watch TV through the fencing, which
improves some TV shows.
Developmentally the puppies are slightly ahead of expectation: gaining weight well and learning to jump. These are not your little hippity hops, but real jump-ups onto the human bean in the pen or onto each other.

Note: the puppies' collars are a little different from their rick-rack - Maeve is still red, Liam blue, and Alana remains purple, but Nuala is now neon pink and Aoife is now burgundy!
