Journal: Week three...
t'a gr'a agam dhuit means I love you...
The third week was uneventful! The puppies continue to grow and
develop. They all opened their eyes and have started responding to
Tulia's noises. As their personalities are beginning to be displayed we
have named them:
- Hounds Of Heaven Croi Liam (blue boy): resolute, unwavering
protector
- Hounds Of Heaven Croi Nuala (yellow girl): bright, fair
- Hounds Of Heaven Croi Alana (purple girl): attractive, fair,
peaceful
- Hounds Of Heaven Croi Maeve (red girl): intoxicating, fragile
- Hounds Of Heaven Croi Aoife (orange girl): beautiful, radiant
(pronounced "Efa")
Croi means "heart" in Irish (this is the Valentine
Litter).
The puppies want to eat all the time. When we put them in the bassinets for
awhile to shower or to take Tulia out for exercise they will sleep quietly,
for up to 1 hour!!
They are starting to move around quite a bit, with Aoife (orange
girl) leading the pack. It is so much fun to watch them try to run.
Up... 2 steps... fall over. Up... 3 steps... fall over! They have
not mastered the concept of going around. If a littermate is in the way
of their path, up and step on! It works with their littermates but not
with Tulia or the sides of the whelping box (yet!)
They are also starting social play fighting with each other and with
mom and the human parents. It is hilarious to see this little (3 pound)
beastie growl at 170# mom and bite her leg or nose. Aoife (orange
girl) and Nuala (yellow girl), and Liam (blue boy) will "attack" the
human parents too. It is a treat to have your nose bitten by these
little monsters.
